Six people, including three teenagers, were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Etna, Ohio on Tuesday. Five vehicles were involved in the Ohio bus crash, including two passenger cars, two commercial vehicles, and a Pioneer Trails charter bus carrying 54 high school students, teachers, and chaperones from Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools. The students were traveling to an Ohio School Boards Association conference in Columbus.
Three of the bus passengers and all three occupants in one of the passenger vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of one commercial and one of the passenger vehicles, along with 15 students and the bus driver, were transported to area hospitals.
The exact cause of the Ohio bus crash is yet unknown. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident, which is expected to take 12 to 18 months, and reports that Pioneer Trails fully cooperates with the investigation.
