Multi-Vehicle Crash Leaves Young Wood County Woman Dead

car crash Wood County

A three-vehicle crash occurred in Wood County on Saturday night, leaving 34-year-old Brandy Houghtalling with fatal injuries. Ohio State Patrol troopers responded to the crash just after 10 p.m. on December 3, 2022.

According to police reports, a 30-year-old woman from Toledo lost control of her vehicle, which later crashed and became disabled in the left lane of I-75 near Cygnet. Ms. Houghtalling, from Whitehouse, was driving northbound on I-75 when she struck the disabled vehicle, which had been unoccupied in the left lane. Ms. Houghtalling’s vehicle was then struck by another vehicle that was also heading northbound on I-75.

Ms. Houghtalling was pronounced dead at the scene of the multi-vehicle crash.

The driver and three passengers in the vehicle that struck and killed Ms. Houghtalling were transported to Wood County Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Law enforcement officials believe alcohol may have been involved in the accident. The fatal crash continues to be under investigation.
