What Is An Offer In Compromise?

An offer in compromise is when a taxpayer makes an offer to the IRS to settle a tax debt for less than the full amount owed. Our office receives many calls from prospective clients inquiring about offers in compromise due to TV commercials and radio advertisements conveying the message that the IRS is more than eager to settle tax debts for pennies on the dollar. Although the IRS has recently relaxed the requirements for getting an offer in compromise approved, offers in compromise are not obtainable for many taxpayers.

Regardless, we provide our clients with an appraisal of their financial situation and likelihood of obtaining an offer in compromise and will skillfully guide those clients eligible for an offer through the IRS’ complicated and tedious process.
